Owners of the Kia Sorento, models 2011-2013, should be careful when switching gears! Info became available last week that the South Korean company, Kia, was going to be issuing a recall of their Sorento’s from 2011 to 2013.
The issue seems to be a fault in the transmission, causing drivers to be able to shift out of park even without having their foot on the brake. They first became aware of this back in August, when a lawyer stated a child had pushed against the shifter, causing the car to roll and cause an injury. Kia will begin notifying owners starting on Nov. 24th. Dealers will be able to replace the defective brake-shift interlock mechanism, as well.
That recall is still almost a month away, so if you or anyone you know suffers as a result of this, you know who to call!
